about me

Hi, I’m Ericka de Alexander (Eri). I’m an award winning queer Mexican-British filmmaker and actress. I was born and raised in Mexico and now live in Los Angeles. I studied TV and Film Production at USC, and I’m a Directing Member at the Alliance of Women Directors.

As a filmmaker, I’m drawn to stories that shine a light on dramatic themes of hopefulness, loss of innocence, and otherness. I have directing experience in narrative films, documentary, music videos, and web series. My most recent narrative work is “FLAMES”, a queer love story about the grief of letting go, which premiered at LA Shorts in 2025. I wrote, produced, directed and starred in the project. I also created, was the producing director, and lead actor in the queer magical realism web series “If The World Was Ending”, which has gained more than 200,000 views on YouTube.

For documentary work, my award winning short documentary “The Cleaning Lady” ( fiscally sponsored by Film Independent) had its world premiere at DOCNYC 2024, and got picked up by PBS to join their POV Shorts Series Season 7. It later won a Bronze Telly in the TV/General Short Doc category. This story follows the journey of an undocumented immigrant, Mari Reina, who spent 15 years in the US to be able to provide a better life for the family she left behind.

I’m currently in pre-production of my debut feature film, a magical realism drama titled “THE HOLLOW” (fiscally sponsored by Film Independent), which is set to start production in January 2026. I’m directing and starring in this project.
